Adem\u00e1s de sus propiedades culinarias como especie arom\u00e1tica, cada vez son m\u00e1s las personas que se aprovechan de los beneficios de esta\u00a0planta como 'remedio' natural y preventivo de importantes patolog\u00edas.\nSu principio activo es la curcumina, responsable de sus acciones antiinflamatorias y antioxidantes. Por esta raz\u00f3n, se han llevado a cabo diversos estudios que demostraron su potencial efecto sobre enfermedades como diabetes, alergias, artritis, enfermedades cardiovasculares y metab\u00f3licas.\nEste efecto se debe a su capacidad de inhibir la acci\u00f3n de los radicales libres, responsables del envejecimiento celular y enfermedades degenerativas, entre otros.\n\n\n<h2><u>Efectos en la salud derivados del consumo de c\u00farcuma<\/u><\/h2>\n\n\nYa es conocida su utilidad para ayudar a aliviar de forma r\u00e1pida las molestias en articulaciones (dolores asociados a artrosis, artritis y reumatismos); su acci\u00f3n tambi\u00e9n se ha estudiado para la prevenci\u00f3n y tratamiento de otras enfermedades como arteriosclerosis, desordenes respiratorios y gastrointestinales y efectos hepatoprotectores.\nA continuaci\u00f3n describiremos sus efectos estudiados en la salud:\n\n\n<ul>\n \t\n\n<li><strong>Asma<\/strong>: diversos autores demostraron el efecto de su actividad para mejorar esta enfermedad; pero, adem\u00e1s, existen estudios que describen el poder de la curcumina para prevenir la aparici\u00f3n de <strong>bronquitis<\/strong> en pacientes asm\u00e1ticos.<a href=\"#_ftn1\" name=\"_ftnref1\">[1]<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n \t\n\n<li><strong>Sistema digestivo<\/strong>: en casos de inflamaci\u00f3n de la mucosa del est\u00f3mago por la presencia del Helicobacter pylori (bacteria causante muchas veces de <strong>gastritis<\/strong>), se ha demostrado que la c\u00farcuma logra disminuir el grado de inflamaci\u00f3n. <a href=\"#_ftn2\" name=\"_ftnref2\">[2]<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n \t\n\n<li>H\u00edgado: efecto <strong>hepatoprotector<\/strong>. Gracias a sus propiedades antioxidantes y antiinflamatorias, logra proteger las c\u00e9lulas del h\u00edgado y adem\u00e1s aumentar la actividad detoxificante.<\/li>\n\n\n \t\n\n<li>Coraz\u00f3n: la curcumina es capaz de disminuir valores de LDL (conocido como colesterol malo)y triglic\u00e9ridos, y a su vez aumentarlos niveles de HDL (colesterol bueno), resultando un <strong>cardio \u2013 protector<\/strong>.<a href=\"#_ftn3\" name=\"_ftnref3\">[3]<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\nTambi\u00e9n, en diversos estudios se concluy\u00f3 que el aporte de c\u00farcuma, junto con una modificaci\u00f3n del estilo de vida de los pacientes, se logr\u00f3 reducir el peso y mejorar la composici\u00f3n corporal.<a href=\"#_ftn4\" name=\"_ftnref4\">[4]<\/a>\nPor \u00faltimo, hay numerosos informes cient\u00edficos que hablan sobre\u00a0las\u00a0propiedades\u00a0anti c\u00e1ncer de la c\u00farcuma, como modulador en el crecimiento de tumores y aparici\u00f3n de met\u00e1stasis.
