Nutrabasics - Sage
Salvia is a large genus, containing the common Sage or Salvia officinalis. Sage is an aromatic plant easily identifiable by its tall clusters of purplish flowers. The name Salvia comes from the Latin word “Salvare”. Sage is rich in bioactive compounds such as essential oils (which composition varies remarkably throughout the year), Saponins, Arachidonic Acid, Vitamins and Phytoestrogens (estrogen-like substances).

Our Sage capsules contain dry extracts instead of powdered plant material. Dry extracts are more concentrated and therefore, the same results can be achieved by using less product. We have selected a Sage Extract with a 5:1 ratio. This means that we have used 1.750 mg of plant to produce 350 mg of extract. “Dry extract” refers to a specific extraction process that retains the bioactive compounds from plant materials and eliminates impurities and other unnecessary substances. The use of plant extracts has several advantages over the use of powdered forms:
- The bioactive compounds content can be accurately measured (Standardized Extracts).
- Products based on plant extracts are more concentrated that those made from powdered plant material (Concentrated and easy to take doses).
- The assimilation of bioactive compounds is easier if they are alone (extract form) rather than in combination with the rest of plant material that retains impurities and fiber (powdered form).
Another important advantage of our product formulation is the use of standardised extracts. Standardised extracts contain isolated, guaranteed amounts of bioactive ingredients that remain constant over time. In this particular case, our Sage Extract is titrated in Rosmarinic Acid, ensuring a constant daily dose of 8.75 mg.
Concentrated and easy to take doses
The use of concentrated and titrated dry extracts allows us to provide the same dose in just one (1) capsule.
Our capsules are vegetable-based. They are manufactured from Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose, which is a product derived from plant cellulose. These capsules have been certified by the Vegetarian Society.
We make every effort to ensure that our Sage capsules are free of the most common allergens, in particular gluten.
Our Sage capsules come in blister packs. Blister packs protect products against adverse external influences that may affect its quality or potency (such as mechanical damage and environmental factors like moisture or biological contamination), ensuring their composition for extended periods of time.
